Our Story

Stephanie Smallwood, founder of Naked Mermaid Soapery

Naked Mermaid Soapery was never supposed to just be a business.

It started in a season of my life where everything slowed down—when my world got smaller, my health took control, and I had to figure out who I was outside of the roles I used to carry so easily. I didn't start this because it was trendy. I started it because I needed something to hold onto… something that gave me purpose again.

Soap turned into therapy. Then it turned into passion. And before I knew it, it became a way to rebuild not just my life—but something that could support my family and stand for something bigger than me.

The Smallwood family

My husband stood beside me through it all. My daughter watched it grow from something small at home into what it is today. And now, my grandsons are part of the reason I keep pushing forward—because this isn't just about today, it's about what I'm building for them too.

Every product you see here is created with intention. Not mass-produced. Not rushed. Thought out, tested, refined—because I care about what you're putting on your skin just as much as I care about what I put on mine and my family's.

But this brand isn't just about skincare.

It's about real life.
It's about women who are tired, stretched thin, doing everything for everyone else—and forgetting themselves in the process.
It's about taking five minutes back for you and not feeling guilty about it.

Because I've been there.

This business feeds my family, but it also fuels something deeper. Giving back isn't a marketing angle for me—it's who I am. Supporting women, helping those starting over, showing up for causes that matter… that's built into the foundation of everything I do.

When you support Naked Mermaid Soapery, you're not buying from a corporation.

You're supporting a woman who built something from the ground up when life didn't give her many other options.
You're supporting a husband who never let her quit, a daughter who believed in her, and grandsons who inspire her.
And you're helping me continue to pour back into others.

So no, this isn't just soap.

This is resilience.
This is family.
This is second chances.
This is showing up anyway.

And if you're here, you're a part of that story now.
